My Goals & Plan

I am excited by the opportunity to build Owner.com's event function from the ground up. Here is my proactive plan for the first 90 days and my long term aspirations for driving pipeline growth and building community.

My First 90 Days: Building the Events Engine

Assuming I earn the role, here is how I plan to approach building the events function to create immediate and measurable impact.

First 30 Days

Foundation & Alignment

  • Deep Dive into Owner.com: Immerse myself in Owner.com's products, target customer (independent restaurants), brand voice, sales process, and existing marketing initiatives. Understand the key value propositions and success metrics.
  • Connect with Stakeholders: Meet extensively with Sales leadership, key Sales/Partnership team members, Marketing/Growth leadership (especially David Fallarme), and relevant agencies to understand pipeline goals, target segments, past event experiences, and immediate needs.
  • Audit & Research: Analyze competitor event strategies and identify best practices in field/experiential marketing within the SMB tech and restaurant tech spaces. Research potential event formats (trade shows, dinners, pop-ups) relevant to the target audience.
  • Develop Initial Framework: Draft a preliminary framework for the events function, outlining potential event types, key performance indicators (KPIs) focused on pipeline generation/acceleration, and proposed budget allocation principles.
  • Establish Communication Cadence: Set up regular check ins with Sales and Marketing leadership to ensure alignment and transparency from day one.
First 60 Days

Strategy & Initial Execution

  • Finalize Q1 Event Strategy & Calendar: Based on initial findings and stakeholder input, finalize the event strategy for the upcoming quarter, including specific event choices, target audiences, pipeline goals, and budget. Create a detailed event calendar.
  • Build Event Playbooks: Develop standardized playbooks for key event types (e.g., trade show booth activation, small format dinner), outlining processes for planning, execution, sales collaboration, lead capture, and follow up.
  • Select & Manage Vendors/Agencies: Identify, vet, and establish relationships with necessary external partners (agencies, venues, tech providers) for initial event execution.
  • Launch First Event(s): Execute the first 1-2 events according to the plan, focusing on seamless logistics, strong sales team integration, positive attendee experience, and effective lead capture/qualification.
  • Implement Measurement System: Set up the initial system for tracking key event metrics: lead generation, pipeline influence, deal acceleration, attendee engagement, and preliminary ROI. Define reporting structure.
First 90 Days

Optimization & Scalability

  • Analyze Initial Event Performance: Conduct thorough post event analysis for the first events executed. Gather feedback from Sales, attendees, and stakeholders. Report on initial KPIs and ROI.
  • Refine Strategy & Playbooks: Based on initial results and feedback, iterate on the event strategy, playbooks, and processes. Identify areas for improvement in efficiency, impact, and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop Q2 Event Plan: Begin planning the event strategy and calendar for the following quarter, incorporating learnings from the first 90 days and aligning with evolving Sales/Marketing goals.
  • Build Internal Processes: Formalize internal processes for event requests, budget management, cross functional collaboration (Sales, Marketing, Brand), and reporting.
  • Present 90-Day Review & Future Roadmap: Deliver a comprehensive review of the first 90 days, highlighting key accomplishments, learnings, initial ROI metrics, and a clear roadmap for scaling the events function moving forward.

Long Term Aspirations
