Why I'm a Fit for Owner.com
A company's culture is its operating system. I've read your Culture Deck and I deeply align with your values because I've lived them. Your mission of "arming owners to take on their goliaths" is my family's story.
Embodying the Owner.com Values
Here is how my experiences and mindset align with your five core values.
Obsess Over Customers
TL;DR: I grew up inside a "mom-and-pop" business. I connect with your customers on a personal level because I am from a customer's family. I know their struggles firsthand, from six-figure client emails at age 10 to defending the business in court at 18.
Your mission is personal for me. I watched my immigrant parents build their window and door business from nothing. I was at trade shows at age 6 and writing client emails for six-figure deals by age 10. When our family business was wrongfully sued, I saw how vulnerable "mom-and-pop" owners are. I enrolled in a law class, wrote the defense briefs myself, and successfully defended our business in court.
I know what's at stake. I know the stress, the long hours, and the feeling of being up against "goliaths." My obsession comes from a deep, personal understanding of who your customers are and a burning desire to help them win.
Move Fast
TL;DR: I operate with a high sense of urgency and efficiency. I graduated from USC with two degrees in just 3 years (with a 3.9 GPA) by taking 21 units a semester. I believe in executing with speed and precision.
My default speed is "high." I value efficiency, whether it's mine or the company's. At USC, I saw a more efficient path and compressed my Accounting and Computer Science degrees into three years. This required intense focus, discipline, and an ability to learn and adapt quickly, the same skills needed in a fast-moving startup.
In the Events Manager role, this means I will move fast to build this function. I will default to "Why Not End Of Day?" when setting timelines for vendor negotiations, sales team check-ins, and post-event reporting.
Bring Good Energy
TL;DR: I'm a natural team player who brings contagious, positive energy. I genuinely enjoy raising the collective morale of a group and focus on solutions.
Good energy is about being a builder and focusing on solutions. I'm one of the hardest workers I know, and I also work to make the team *better* and *happier*. I thrive on collaborating with awesome people, getting buy-in on the mission, and keeping morale high. This is especially critical for an Events Manager, who is the "face" of the company to both internal sales teams and external restaurant partners.
I also practice "good energy" by actively seeking candid feedback. In martial arts, I constantly asked opposing senseis for critiques. It was difficult, but I knew it was the fastest path to growth. I see feedback as a sign of caring and optimism, which is the core of good energy.
Scale Yourself
TL;DR: I am a "quick and eager learner" who actively seeks out hard lessons. When I got my first 'C' in a Java course, I went beyond passing the class: I doubled down, mastered the material, and became the TA for it one semester later.
To me, "scaling yourself" means learning fast and turning weaknesses into strengths. My journey to becoming a TA is my favorite example. I was completely out of my element, but I embraced the challenge, inhaled the information, and not only improved my own skills but put myself in a position to teach others. That's how I approach every new challenge.
My legal training also taught me how to scale. It trained me to synthesize massive amounts of complex information into clear, logical, and compelling memos. This is the exact skill needed to build a *scalable* events program: creating clear playbooks and ROI reports that everyone on the team can use to learn and execute.
Build as an Owner
TL;DR: I've always operated as an owner in every role. I don't just take initiative; I take full responsibility. As President of a student organization, I took ownership and grew our budget by 300%.
This is the value that defines me. Growing up in my family's business, I always did what needed to be done. When I saw a wrongful lawsuit threatening our livelihood, I took ownership and learned contract law to fight it.
I bring this builder's mindset to everything. As President of a student organization, I saw an opportunity beyond the existing budget. I took ownership, identified new funding sources, and grew our budget by 300%. The job description calls for someone to "build an events function from the ground up" and "own strategy, operations, and execution." That is exactly what I am built to do.
My Best Qualities
These are the personal attributes I bring to every team and every challenge.
Ability to Listen
I listen to truly understand, not just to respond. This helps me learn quickly, collaborate effectively, and make my colleagues feel heard and valued.
Energy
I bring a contagious, positive energy to every room I enter. People feel my kindness and positivity. I genuinely enjoy raising the collective morale and ceiling of the group.
Quick & Eager Learner
Learning how to learn quickly is one of the highest ROI skills I've developed. Paired with a genuine eagerness, I inhale information, which will help me contribute to the team immediately.
Detail Oriented
My experiences in law and computer programming have trained me to be meticulous. I understand that every detail matters, a lesson reinforced by a childhood deal with my mom: $10 for every silly math mistake. I never made one again.
Hard Worker
I am one of the hardest workers I know and am eager to do whatever it takes to help the team win. I also reflect on my progress daily to do more of what's working, ensuring I work smart, not just hard.
Team Player
I thrive on working with awesome people and focus on the intangibles that make a team both fun and productive. I work to get buy-in on the mission, facilitate clear communication, and keep morale high.
Professional
I've spent thousands of hours interacting with high-profile clients and understand how to conduct myself with a high degree of professionalism, clarity, and precision.
Good Communicator
I listen well, write clearly, and read the room. I do my best to be articulate and easy to understand, and I make no assumptions. I spell things out to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Take Initiative & Responsibility
I take it upon myself to think ahead and act accordingly. I'm generally the first to offer help or execute on a new idea. If things go south, I'll be the first to take responsibility and find solutions.
Manage Priorities Well
Growing up juggling work, competitive sports, and academics taught me how to balance many tasks and work ahead of schedule. In challenging situations, I'm the one who stays calm and de-escalates.
A quick final note: I’m generally quite humble, but I've been super straightforward with my strengths in this application. We don’t have the luxury of getting to know each other over the course of days or weeks, so I wanted to be as clear as possible about the value I can bring to the team.
